Summary: Kim Jung-ae raised Lee Soon-shin with love as her own daughter when she was left at their doorstep as a baby. Soon-shin is a member of the "880,000 won generation," or college graduates who can't find a job and instead work in low-paying temp jobs. She becomes targeted by a swindler who claims he is Shin Joon-ho, head of a talent agency, and say he believes she has the potential to become an actress. After quickly signing a contract, Soon-shin finds out she has been conned and ends up being charged the amount of money he stole. Shortly after, Soon-shin's father, Chang-hoon dies in a car accident in which the suspect is unknown, and no witnesses have come forward. Meanwhile, Soon-shin begins working at Black Smith, the restaurant below the Gabi Entertainment office, in order to pay off her debt. After making a bet with actress and ex-girlfriend Choi Yeon-ah (Kim Yoon-seo), the real Joon-ho, over-confident and arrogant, is determined to transform Soon-shin into a star. But this time Jung-ae isn't supportive of Soon-shin taking the offer after finding out that her late husband may have had an affair with another woman, who then gave birth to Soon-shin. She later discovers that Soon-shin's birth mother is the famous actress Song Mi-ryung.
Middle daughter Lee Yoo-shin has lived next door to Park Chan-woo since childhood. Despite their constant squabbles, Chan-woo (now a dermatologist) still loves her confidence and prickly demeanor. Yoo-shin delays thinking about marriage and childbirth, instead prioritizing success at work. But when Joon-ho's younger sister Shin Yi-jung develops a crush on Chan-woo, it makes Yoo-shin realize her true feelings for him.
Eldest daughter Lee Hye-shin is beautiful and competent, but feels like a failure when her marriage ends. As a divorced single mother, she has difficulties re-entering the workforce. She later meets Seo Jin-wook, a neighborhood baker who shows her consideration and gentleness, helping heal her wounds.
Meanwhile, Soon-shin has no idea that she was adopted, she continues to take acting lessons from Mi-ryung, which upsets her family, who have difficulty understanding why Chang-hoon would be unfaithful. Watching Soon-shin do everything to realize her dream of becoming an actress, Joon-ho looks back on his career and finds himself changing as he discovers the true meaning of success. But when Mi-ryung later discovers that Soon-shin is Chang-hoon's daughter, she immediately tries to destroy her career. Mi-ryung also informs her that she was merely a pawn in Joon-ho's bet, upsetting Soon-shin who decides to quit. Unwilling to admit his romantic feelings for her but genuinely concerned for her welfare, Joon-ho is determined make Soon-shin return to acting, which she once said made her happiest. After she rejoins Gabi Entertainment, Soon-shin also realizes that she likes Joon-ho, and they begin dating.
After breaking off their mentoring relationship, Soon-shin eventually finds out that Mi-ryung is her birth mother. She refuses to live with her, despite facing difficulty with her adoptive family. She only agrees to stay at Mi-ryung's house to keep the reporters away from her adoptive family. Upset at Soon-shin's coldness, Mi-ryung tells Soon-shin that Chang-hoon isn't her birth father, so she has no reason to go back to her adoptive family. Soon-shin keeps her paternity a secret from her adoptive family, and in the meantime lives with Mi-ryung while she and Joon-ho work on her acting debut.
After witnessing firsthand Mi-ryung's pitiful and lonely life, Soon-shin starts becoming kind to her birth mother. Mi-ryung values the relationship she's building with Soon-shin and is determined that nothing will ruin it. But after Soon-shin overhears in a conversation that her father Chang-hoon died while saving Mi-ryung, she runs away and Jung-ae takes her home. Soon-shin tells Mi-ryung that if she wants Soon-shin's forgiveness, she must beg her family for it and help find the suspect by coming forward as a witness. Mi-ryung refuses to do it, saying that fame is all she has. After a change of heart, Mi-ryung tells Shin Dong-hyuk, Joon-ho's father, to take his car's black box to the police since it recorded what happened on that night's accident. Both Mi-ryung and Soon-shin's careers become jeopardized after the news goes public.
Eventually Mi-ryung tells the press the truth as an act of taking responsibility, and retires from acting. The hit and run driver is arrested and jailed. As the drama closes, Mi-ryung is living a peaceful life in a remote area, and after she watches Soon-shin's new stage play, Soon-shin makes a tentative gesture of reconciliation by thanking her and calling her "Mom" for the first time. Hye-shin is dating Jin-wook with Woo-joo's blessing, Yoo-shin and Chan-woo are preparing for the birth of their first child, and Soon-shin films her first movie with Joon-ho behind the scenes, planning to propose to her. Jung-ae narrates these last few minutes and says goodbye to her late husband. After their father's death, the three sisters have grown as individuals through enduring hardships as a family. They come to realize that the most precious things in life can be found within oneself, and happiness is a blessing that comes to the courageous few who have high self-esteem and take charge of their own lives. During the incursion a teenager Coordinator named Kira Yamato, upon seeing his friends in danger, pilots the GAT-X105 Strike mobile suit to fend off the invaders but the colony is critically damaged in the ensuing fight. As Heliopolis disintegrates, the survivors board an Archangel class assault ship belonging to the Earth Alliance, the Natural's military, and begin their journey to the Alliance base in Alaska. During the journey to Earth, Kira pilots the Strike to counter a series of attacks by ZAFT but is seemingly killed by his childhood friend, ZAFT soldier Athrun Zala, during one of their battles in which he is nearly killed. Kira survives the attack and is treated in one of the PLANT space colonies, home to the Coordinators. Three of them are stolen by a group called Phantom Pain, which is controlled by the Blue Cosmos terrorist organization. Cagalli's bodyguard Athrun Zala joins ZAFT pilot Shinn Asuka to stop them. During the fight, ZAFT's battleship Minerva is ordered to destroy the ruins of a space colony to prevent it from crashing into Earth. Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama
Year: 2013
Summary: In New York City, teenager Clary Fray begins seeing strange symbols, concerning her mother Jocelyn Fray and her mother's friend Luke Garroway. Later, while attending a nightclub with her best and only friend Simon Lewis, Clary witnesses the murder of a man by the hands of Jace Wayland, whom only Clary appears to see. Meanwhile, Jocelyn is abducted by two men, Emil Pangborn and Samuel Blackwell, and leaves a message for Clary warning her that someone named Valentine is coming after her, then drinks a potion that leaves her in a comatose state. Returning home, Clary is attacked by a demon and rescued by Jace, who reveals himself to be a Shadowhunter, a warrior trained to slay demons hidden on Earth, such as the man in the nightclub. Jocelyn was a Shadowhunter as well, and Clary has inherited her powers, including the ability to read runes.
Clary and Jace visit Clary's neighbor and friend of her mother, Madame Dorothea, a witch who deduces that Pangborn and Blackwell are after the Mortal Cup, one of the three Mortal Instruments given to the first Shadowhunter by the Angel Raziel, that allows humans to become half-Angel. Simon, now able to see Jace, joins them as they leave to meet Luke in his bookstore. There, they discover that Luke is being interrogated by Pangborn and Blackwell, stating that he cares nothing for Jocelyn, and is after the Mortal Cup himself. The trio then escapes to the Shadowhunters' base of operations, the Institute, where Clary and Simon meet Jace's fellow Shadowhunters, Alec Lightwood and Isabelle Lightwood, and their leader, Hodge Starkweather, who reveals that Pangborn and Blackwell are working for Valentine Morgenstern, an ex-Shadowhunter who betrayed the group and sought to steal the Mortal Cup for himself in order to gain control over all Shadowhunters and demons.
Believing the key to find the Mortal Cup lies within Clary's mind, Hodge instructs Jace to take Clary to the City of Bones, where fallen Shadowhunters are laid to rest, to meet Brother Jeremiah (Stephen R. Hart), a dead Shadowhunter that probes Clary's mind and learns of her connection to a powerful sorcerer, Magnus Bane. Clary, Jace, Simon, Alec and Isabelle meet Magnus in a nightclub, where he reveals that Jocelyn hired him to block knowledge of the Shadowhunters from Clary's mind. Their conversation is interrupted when Simon is kidnapped by vampires, leading to a confrontation in a nearby hotel, in which the group is nearly killed before werewolves (that share a truce with the Shadowhunters) intervene and rescue them.
Back in the Institute, Clary falls in love with Jace while on a romantic evening with him in the institute's greenhouse, sharing a kiss. As they kiss the second time in front of her room, Simon interrupts them by opening the door, and shakily attempts to be humorous while tentatively confronting Clary about her relationship with the Shadowhunter. She responds that they "were just kissing", leading Jace to be confused and angered. Simon confesses to Clary that he loves her and always has. She is too shocked to respond, leaving the room and a heartbroken Simon.
Clary discovers that the Mortal Cup is hidden inside a tarot card painted by her mother, so the group returns to her apartment to retrieve it. There, they discover Madame Dorothea has been replaced by a demon sent to steal the Cup. It is killed by Simon and Jace after critically wounding Alec, while Clary retrieves the Mortal Cup.
The group returns to the Institute only to be betrayed by Hodge, who steals the Mortal Cup from Clary and summons Valentine Morgenstern. He reveals himself to be Clary's father and attempts to persuade her to join him, but she refuses and escapes with help from Luke, who is revealed to be a werewolf. Luke explains that Clary has a brother called Jonathan, and returns to the Institute with her and his pack to fight Valentine, who uses the Mortal Cup to open a portal and summon an army of demons to New York. Simon and Isabelle manage to close the portal with help from Hodge, who sees the error of his ways and sacrifices himself to kill Blackwell. Meanwhile, Magnus arrives to heal the injured Alec, and Luke kills Pangborn.
Clary and Jace fight Valentine, who reveals that they are siblings, and that Jace's real name is Jonathan. He once more attempts to convince them to join him, but they refuse again and push him through the portal with a false Mortal Cup, and after a brief struggle the portal is destroyed by Jace. Jocelyn is rescued but remains in an coma at the hospital, where she is reunited with Luke. Clary assures Simon that although she does not love him back, somebody will. Clary heads back home and uses her powers to repair the damage done to her apartment. Shortly thereafter, Jace appears and confesses that he needs her and wants her to come back with him to the Institute. Once she agrees to go with him, Jace affirms that he does not believe that they are siblings. Clary jumps on his motorcycle with him and they drive off to their destination.

Summary: Snow White's mother died in child birth, and her father, the King, marries Clementianna, the most beautiful woman in the land and raises Snow White. One day, the king leaves to fight a great evil that has invaded the land but never returns. Queen Clementianna rules in his absence and keeps Snow White in the palace.
Ten years later, Snow White having turned eighteen, desires to see her kingdom. Defying Queen Clementianna's orders, she leaves the palace. Arriving at a forest, she meets Prince Andrew Alcott who has been robbed by thieving dwarfs. She and the Prince are drawn to each other but go their separate ways. Snow White arrives in the town, and finds the once-happy townfolk are destitute due to Queen Clementianna's greed.
Meanwhile, Prince Alcott finds his way to the palace. Queen Clementianna realizes he comes from a wealthy kingdom, and throws a ball to woo the Prince to solve her financial problems. Snow White secretly attends the ball, planning to ask the prince to help her restore the kingdom. Queen Clementianna notices them dancing and orders her manservant Brighton to take the princess into the forest and feed her to the Beast that lives there. Brighton takes Snow White to the forest, but he releases her and urges her to run. Snow White flees the Beast and collapses at the door to the Seven Dwarfs' house. She wakes up to find the dwarfs Grimm, Butcher, Wolf, Napoleon, Half Pint, Grub, and Chuck.
Queen Clementianna levies another tax among the starving people to pay for the parties she throws for Prince Alcott. Brighton collects the taxes, but, on the way back to the palace, the dwarfs rob Brighton and steal the money. Snow White sneaks away to return the money. The townspeople and the Town Magistrate are overjoyed to have their money back and Snow White lets the Dwarfs take credit for it, earning them the people's acceptance and gratitude.
Meanwhile, Queen Clementianna informs Alcott that Snow White is dead. When the Prince finds out that the bandits have robbed Brighton, he goes after them, unaware of the awful things the Queen has done. In the forest, Alcott discovers that Snow White is alive and in league with the bandits. Each believing the other to be in the wrong, Snow White and Alcott duel. Alcott returns to the Palace defeated and informs the Queen that Snow White is alive.
Queen Clementianna goes to her Magic Mirror, within which lives her reflection, the Mirror Queen. Displeased that Brighton had lied about Snow White's death, Queen Clementianna has the Mirror Queen turn Brighton into a cockroach (which was for a short time). The Queen requests a love potion so she can make the Prince fall in love with her. The Mirror Queen repeatedly warns Queen Clementianna that there is a price for using dark magic, but Queen Clementianna refuses to listen. The potion, however, turns out to be a 'puppy love' potion and the Prince becomes devoted to her like a puppy dog. Under this spell, the Prince agrees to marry Queen Clementianna. She then uses dark magic to create two giant wooden puppets in the forest and uses them to try and kill Snow White and the Dwarfs. Snow White is able to cut the strings of the puppets and break the spell.
Snow White and the Dwarfs crash the royal wedding and capture the Prince before Queen Clementianna and Brighton arrive. Back in the forest, the still-cursed Prince wishes to return to the Queen. Snow White kisses Alcott and the spell is broken.
Snow White encounters Queen Clementianna who reveals that she can control the Beast that has been plaguing the forest and sends it after Snow White. Prince Alcott tries to save Snow White, and after the struggle, the Beast captures the princess. However, the Beast hesitates in killing her and Snow White sees that it wears a necklace with a moon charm on it similar to the one the Queen wears. She cuts the chain with her father's dagger and the Beast suddenly becomes engulfed in light. Queen Clementianna begins to age, and the Mirror Queen says this is her consequence for using dark magic. The Beast turns out to be Snow White's father who has no memory of the last ten years.
Grateful to Alcott for his assistance, the king agrees to let him marry Snow White. During the wedding celebration, a crone in a hooded robe appears and offers Snow White an apple (which is poisoned) as a wedding gift. At first, Snow White accepts the gift, but as she is about to bite it, she realizes that the crone is Clementianna. Then Snow White pulls out her knife and cuts a piece from the apple and gives it to Clementianna, she says that sometimes you must admit that you've been defeated. Accepting defeat, Clementianna takes the apple as the Mirror House shatters upon the Mirror Queen while she declares that it was Snow White's story all along.
The film's epilogue reveals what happened to the Dwarfs: Grimm becomes a teacher again and writes a book of fairy tales, Napoleon becomes a hairdresser, Wolf "returned to his pack", Half-Pint finds a girlfriend, Grub just eats, Butcher becomes a flyweight champion, and Chuck joins the royal circus. Now they can live happily ever after just like any other fairytale.

Charlie buys a secondhand World Robot Boxing league (WRB) robot, the once-famous Noisy Boy and arranges for it to fight the illegal circuit's champion, Midas. The fight starts well for Charlie, but due to both his inexperience with Noisy Boy's controls and his own overconfidence, Charlie ends up losing control of Noisy Boy and Midas destroys it.
Charlie breaks into a junkyard with Max to steal scraps that he can use to build a new robot. Max falls over a ledge, where he is saved by getting snagged on the arm of a buried robot. After Charlie pulls Max up, Max digs out the entire robot and finds his branding, Atom. Charlie takes it back to Bailey's gym to overhaul it. They discover Atom is an obsolete Generation-2 sparring bot from 2014. Atom was designed to sustain massive damage. Atom also has a "shadow function" which allows him to follow or copy human movement. Max insists and Charlie agrees since he needs the money, on having Atom fight an unsanctioned match against the robot Metro. Atom wins, earning back some of Charlie's money.
Max later upgrades Atom to take vocal commands, using parts from Charlie's old robots, and convinces Charlie to train Atom. Atom's later string of wins attracts the WRB's attention, and they offer Atom a professional fight against the robot Twin Cities. Charlie accepts and Atom wins again, thanks to Charlie's boxing experience allowing him to take advantage of a small tell in Twin Cities' punch. Reveling in the attention, Max tries to get back at the wealthy Farra Lemkova who made fun of Atom by challenging WRB champion Zeus who was designed by genius Tak Mashido under her sponsorship.
Ricky and two henchmen corner Charlie after the fight, giving him a beating and stealing his money. Charlie decides to return Max to his aunt, saying that is for the best, but an angry Max tells him that the only thing that he wanted was for Charlie to fight for him. Charlie refuses Marvin's money. He later visits Bailey, who convinces him to fight for his son. He then goes to Debra's house, apologizes to Max and convinces Debra to allow Max to come with him for the fight against Zeus.
In the night of the fight against Zeus, everyone is here, including Max's aunt and uncle, Bailey and Ricky. Ricky bets $100,000 that Atom would not last the first round against Zeus. Things start badly for Atom, but the robot manages to recover. Ricky tries to slip away, but is cornered by the bookie and his colleagues. In the following rounds, Atom fights back, landing several good punches on the champion. In the fourth round of the five-round match, Atom's voice-activated controls are damaged, and Atom must fight in shadow mode, copying Charlie's moves. Zeus, now controlled manually by the furious Mashido, tries to overpower Atom, running low on power and becoming sluggish. The fight swings in Atom's favor as he overwhelms the weakened Zeus, even knocking the champion down, but Atom is unable to win before the fight ends. The judges declare Zeus the winner on points, but the near-defeat leaves the Zeus team humiliated with the people booing them. The people cheer for Atom, who is labelled the "People's Champion" as Charlie and Max celebrate their success together as father and son.

225. Beautiful Creatures

Title: Beautiful Creatures
Genre: Drama, Fantasy, Romance
Year: 2013
Summary: In Gatlin, South Carolina, Ethan Wate awakens from a recurring dream of a girl he does not know. In voice-over narration, he describes his enjoyment of reading banned books, his despair of his small-town existence, and his dreams of leaving for college. Arriving for his first day of junior year, Ethan notices newcomer Lena Duchannes, who resembles the girl he has been dreaming about. The other students do not take kindly to her and spread gossip regarding Lena's reclusive uncle, Macon Ravenwood, and suggest that her family includes devil worshippers. Overhearing these whispers, Lena tenses and the classroom windows shatter, amplifying the fears and suspicions of the class and the townspeople at large that she is a witch.
On a drive home, Ethan nearly runs over Lena, whose car has broken down. He gives her a ride home and the two bond over their shared love of poetry and having both lost their mothers. Ethan drops Lena off but later finds a locket and returns to the mansion to give it to her as a present. The touch of a locket triggers a shared flashback to the American Civil War, after which Ethan awakens at his home. Macon disapproves of their love and fondness of each other, and conspires with Ethan's family friend, Amma, to keep the two separated. However, Ethan continues to pursue Lena until she confesses that she and her family are "casters" capable of performing magical spells that change the weather or create illusions. On her sixteenth birthday, Lena's true nature will steer her towards either the light or the dark; Lena fears the latter, as it entails being consumed by evil and hurting those she loves. Ethan insists she is responsible for her own choices and reassures her that she is a good person.
Matters are complicated by the arrival of two immensely powerful dark casters who aim to push Lena to the dark: Ridley, Lena's provocative cousin/childhood friend, and Sarafine, Lena's mother, who has possessed Mrs. Lincoln, the mother of Ethan's friend Link. Sarafine foresees that Lena will become an even more powerful caster and intends for Lena to use her newfound power to purge the Earth of humans, leaving casters to rule in their wake. Lena and Ethan use the locket to re-experience the whole flashback, which reveals their ancestors, caster Genevieve Duchannes and mortal Confederate soldier Ethan Carter Wate were in love. Ethan Carter was shot in battle and Genevieve revived him using a forbidden spell that caused her to go dark and curse all the Duchannes family's women. They consult with Amma, who is in a seer/keeper of a caster library beneath the town library. The most ancient of these books, the Book of Moons, reveals the secret to undoing the curse: one of Lena's loved ones has to die. Unwilling to take Ethan's life, Lena has a final moment together with Ethan in which Lena makes it snow and then erases all his memories of their time together.
Ridley seduces Link and gives him a bullet to use in an upcoming Civil War reenactment of the Battle of Honey Hill which will take place on Lena's birthday. During the reenactment, Link and Ethan agree to "kill" each other so they can ditch the reenactment. While at the ceremony for her 16th birthday, Lena feels the shock of the curse being broken and runs off to Ethan, clutching his dying body as Ridley and Sarafine encourage her to surrender to grief and accept the dark. Lena lashes out in anger, sending lightning strikes through the crowd of reenactors until Ethan transforms into Macon, who had previously disguised himself as Ethan to become the needed sacrifice. His dying words encourage Lena to "claim yourself"; she then causes the moon to disappear so it cannot claim her for the dark. Lena allows Ridley to flee and pulls Sarafine from Mrs. Lincoln's body, using her power to seal Sarafine's spirit away.
Months later, a still-amnesiac Ethan stops by the library to visit Amma before leaving for an NYU college tour with Link. He apologizes to Lena for not having got to know her during their time in Gatlin. When he inquires if a "banned book" by Charles Bukowski (which she had shared with him when they first met) is any good, Lena presents it to him as a going away present. As Link drives away, Ethan reads a passage in the book that he had earlier associated with Lena, while Lena is revealed in the caster library to be a half dark/light caster. As they drive past the town line, Ethan glimpses the town's burned welcome sign and remembers everything. The car skids to a halt, Ethan gets out of the car and yells Lena's name. She hears him call, and is freed of her dark side before the screen fades to black.

224. R.I.P.D

Title: R.I.P.D
Genre: Action, Comedy, Crime
Year: 2013
Summary: Boston Police Department Detectives Nick Walker and Bobby Hayes stole a chest full of gold found during a drug bust, and Nick buries his share of the gold in his backyard, intending to use it to create a better life for himself and his wife, Julia. However, he regrets his decision and informs Hayes he intends to return the gold. Later, during a raid on a warehouse, Nick and Hayes get into a shootout with criminals, and Hayes kills Nick to prevent him from returning the gold, framing one of the criminals for the murder.
While ascending through a tunnel in the sky to the afterlife, Nick is pulled into the office of Mildred Proctor, director of the Boston division of the Rest In Peace Department (R.I.P.D.), an agency that recruits deceased police officers to patrol the afterlife and capture "Deados", spirits that failed to cross over and return to Earth as monstrous ghosts. Nick agrees to join the R.I.P.D. after Proctor explains that it would stave off a potentially negative final judgment for at least a century, and meets his new partner, Roy Pulsipher, an ex-U.S. Marshal who lived in the 1800s.
Nick and Roy return to Earth to attend Nick's funeral, where Nick learns R.I.P.D. officers are assigned avatars, which is how humans perceive them. Nick's is an elderly Chinese man, Jerry Chen and Roy's is an attractive Russian woman, Opal Pavlenko. After failing to communicate with Julia, Nick accompanies Roy to the apartment of a suspect, Stanley Nawlicki, who tries to escape and is killed by the duo. Pieces of gold identical to the ones Nick stole are found in Nawlicki's possessions and logged into evidence.
Nick and Roy then meet with Elliot, a dealer set to make an exchange with someone, revealed to be Hayes. Nick and Roy follow him to Nick's house, where Hayes retrieves Nick's share of the gold, leading Julia to believe Nick was corrupt. From there, the duo tails Hayes to an abandoned warehouse where he gives the gold to a Deado, Pulaski, who escapes due to Nick and Roy's intervention. Proctor, infuriated, takes them off the case, but they decide to continue the investigation on their own after learning the pieces of golds are components of the Staff of Jericho, a mystic device that could reverse the tunnel that transports the dead into the afterlife, returning them to Earth.
Nick and Roy visit Hayes, who quickly finds out who they are and reveals himself to be a Deado. He is arrested and brought to the R.I.P.D. headquarters, where he and other Deados manage to escape after stealing the components of the Staff of Jericho and return to Earth. While the Deados assemble the Staff of Jericho, Hayes kidnaps Julia to use her as a human sacrifice to open the portal. Nick and Roy arrive and after killing the Deados, including Pulaski, Nick goes to save Julia while Roy destroys the Staff of Jericho and saves the city. Although Nick manages to kill Hayes, Julia succumbs to her wounds and is on the verge of dying in his arms before Proctor arrives and informs Nick that he has earned redemption and Julia has been awarded a second chance.
Julia is revived in the hospital and begins recovery, and Proctor reinstates Nick and Roy into the agency, in addition to providing Nick with a new avatar, which is soon revealed to be a 10-year-old girl scout, much to Nick's disappointment. Nick and Roy then get into their car and drive away.
